About Lavera
Since he was 2 years old, Thomas Hasse (founder and proprietor of Lavera) has suffered from dermatitis. In his childhood, when dermatitis treatments were based on pharmaceutical creams with synthetic ingredients, he always suffered irritations. |  | Thomas Hasse, founder and proprietor of Lavera
As a young adult, he started to work with natural ingredients to develop natural skin care alternatives for his sensitive skin. Years later, he opened one of Germany's first natural product stores and at the same time started to grow herbs for his skin care formulations to help cure his sensitive skin.
In 1987 he founded Lavera, which means "the truth" and represents the Lavera philosophy and commitment to the purest organic ingredients and the absence of synthetic preservatives, additives, petroleum-based ingredients, emulsifiers, colors and fragrances. In order to assure skin tolerance, dermatological tests are done on volunteers with sensitive skin, no animal testing is performed. |

| Lavera - animal testing statement
Since the foundation of Lavera over 13 years ago they have neither been conducting any animal testing nor have asked others to do so on their behalf. Being a manufacturer of natural care products animal testing is certainly incompatible with their company philosophy!
Lavera is a member of BDIH, the members of which follow the requirements of societies for animal protection.
Lavera makes every effort not to use any raw material which was tested on animals - as requested by the German Society for animal protection. Lavera’s suppliers are expected to prove by means of spot check their non-animal testing. Unfortunately, Lavera as a producer of natural care products cannot give legally valid guarantee for the products of its raw material suppliers.
In order to be able to guarantee skin tolerance of Lavera products they are all tested on volunteers only. These tests are conducted in co-operation with independent laboratories, dermatologists and allergists. A close co-operation with a scientific institute enables tests on volunteers suffering Neurodermatitis. |
